New for January 2019 designer Virgil Abloh has once again teamed up with Nike to build on the success of the previous years ‘The Ten’ Collection. Moving away from the predominantly colour neutral offerings of its predecessors the Off White Air Max 90 Desert Ore is dressed in a tan colour scheme married with a translucent midsole which brings a totally unique look to the crep. On this pair of the Air Max 90 Desert Ore, a subtle shade of orange is revealed, the same colourway found across the upper. The heavily deconstructed industrial approach taking with this item is akin to the “Ghostly” half of Virgil’s collaboration with Nike, characterised by an aesthetic which looks almost unfinished, like a blueprint or a prototype. Virgil Abloh’s transformation of the classic Off White Desert Ore silhouette, of course, wouldn’t be complete without that signature cable tie, ensuring that everyone knows what you’ve just copped, and no one can doubt its quality and authenticity. This kick is going to set Nike off on the right track for 2019 and I have no doubt in my mind this foray into a catalogue of more diverse colours is just the beginning for the Off-White series.
